Re: Warhammer Ancient Battles?
I would prob get them from the Old Glory range, ive always liked their figures, and i got this 2 places that gives good deals on them. Most of my FoW infantry is from Old Glory range and they look pretty good, not as good as the battlefront ones, but good enough for me.

I'm looking at old glory now. They got a deal, buy 5 get one free or buy 10 and get 3 free. Where do you buy from? If you play egypt what are the other armies from that time period? Or what other army you looking at?

Have you looked at the Fields of Glory gaming system instead of Warhammer Ancients?

Re: Warhammer Ancient Battles?
I get my stuff mostly from this place http://www.warweb.com/old-glory-15mm-miniatures-c-70_138_1417.html
im also looking at this one : http://oldglory15s.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=830
where can i find the fields of glory rules ? im not familiar with them at all. I got them confused with
"Fire and Fury" which is what i used to play with my Confeds.
what is this "painting" you speak off ?? good old silver is good enough for me ! and what are you talking about Bill ? you have many painted minis that BARELY see any play time !!!! i rather not paint and PLAY than PAINT and NOT play.

Re: Warhammer Ancient Battles?
Well, egyptian armies either come fron New Kingdom Egypt, or Ptlomey Egypt which is after Alexander took over egypt.
I have to look on the books from what era and what units are being used before i buy any figs, dont wanna be stuck with a bunch of figs that have no rules.
check out this link, i'll give u an idea more or less how many figs are in one of their army deals
http://oldglory15s.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=794_795&products_id=3895
thats a carthage army deal

Re: Warhammer Ancient Battles?
What kind of bases do you put these guys on? It just bothers me a bit to play with miniatures that don't match the rules system. IE... 15mm with warhammer ancients. I guess it isnt to big a deal. But I think fields of glory is for 15mm but I could be wrong. But as I look at the 15mm it seems like it would be more epic and more fun.

Re: Warhammer Ancient Battles?
Well, when i played warhammer ancients i was using the base size they say on the book for 25/28mm, i would just put like 2-3 guys per base. It does look nicer, it gives the feel of a large army and not just some squads

Re: Warhammer Ancient Battles?
I'm leaning towards fields of glory but lets compare the two books. Here is a resource page that has a reference sheet on it. The game appears to be pretty strategic and a bit more complicated than other table top games I have played, which appeals to me.

Re: Warhammer Ancient Battles?
Not bad, although it seems that the rules are a bit complex and games tend to last a long time. The warhammer ancient battle rules are more designed for faster games, more emphasis on having fun than being stuck 4 hours on historical accurate action
