Re: Fantasy Tournament at Sunshine 2250 PTS. January 25th
Hey guys.
I have lists from
BILL
COSMO
NATE
LUIS
I need lists from
CHRIS
DALE
MATT
ANYONE ELSE WHO"S COMING
I'm taking a balanced wood elf army with me to play with in case we have an odd number so this way everyone gets to play. If you have to play me, the worst you can do is a draw. Or , if you are the odd man out, you can take an automatic draw instead of playing if you want, but what fun is that?

They are pretty strong and Bill plays them well, Demons did a 360 from what they used to be before.

Cool. I have the Codex, but I have Orc's and Warriors of Chaos...thats enough. I do have enough demons for a 40k army.

Re: Fantasy Tournament at Sunshine 2250 PTS. January 25th
Unstoppable - oh, I wish........ Some keys to victory
Luck of the Draw - Game 1 was vs. Nate who is just returning to fantasy after a long break and had never played vs. DoC before. Game 2 was vs. Chris who is new to fantasy. Flamer 101 is one tough class! I did not have to play long time fanatsy gurus Luis or Matt.
Scenario Selection -
Game 1 deployment rules allowed me to place my General and heavy calvary unit within turn 1 charge range. Nate also made an error in selecting his General's unit to advance deploy, and the lone infantry block was quickly outflanked by the faster DoC troops.
Game 2 was Warpstone Hunt, which I had played before. I quickly claimed the objectives and despite heavy losses, I held on to 5 stones for the win.
Game 3 was vs. Cosmo and the empire. I scored a minor victory by but per the scenario rules I got 15 points. Cosmo completely forgot to shoot artillary one turn, had 2 misfires, and 3 overshots (10s). This could have been much closer than the 420 point difference.
Comp Score -
In adjusting the flying circus list for comp score purposes I went from a -4 to a +6, but IMO I also got stronger. I think I showed yesterday that comp score doesn't work.
Paint score FTW!

Cosmo fields one mean Empire list ! That damn Stank running all over my poor rats
I also found out the hard way that Plague monks as crazy attacks as they get are no match for a fully ranked Saurus unit with 3+ saves ... Their plague senser bearer support got pulled away by some juicy looking Chameleon Skinks .
That damn Saurus unit went through both my Plaguemonk units like a hot knife through butter.

Huh, well good to hear and glad the tournament went well!
Yeah that steam tank is tough! Its one of things I've got to think about working on.
I hope the tournaments get going better. What were these funky missions now?

Not funky, but imaginative. Its good to see some flavor and not just set up and attack each other.

Re: Fantasy Tournament at Sunshine 2250 PTS. January 25th
The missions were pulled from Adepticon, so no fuckyness in this one Dan.
P Bill, I have to disagree about comp scoring, I think it evens things out. Your army was more beatable than when you play with no restrictions.
Your Army has individual units that are very difficult to deal with, (flamers) (heralds of khorne) that I think represents an imbalance in the army book, not your choices as a player.
You had some very good matchups in this tourney. When you add to that the fact that you are a very good general, you are going to end up with a winning combination. I think you definitely would have had more trouble against Luis, or Matt, just because they had Horde armies and you would have been heavily out numbered.
But you definitely deserve the win and you have quite a streak going, Isn't that 3 in a row? Congratulations. !

I liked the missions, but those hedges during the warpstone hunt mission fucked me up big time. Some forethought has to go into the terrain placement if we're gonna use missions with special deployment zones/rules

Re: Fantasy Tournament at Sunshine 2250 PTS. January 25th
Oh My god are you STILL complaining about those hedges. ?
It was your choice where to place your tokens and you could have easily placed your spiders and wolves behind the hedge.
That's besides the fact that Cosmo had the same exact hedge on his side of the table !
Stop your bitchin and moaning.
BTW I just want you to know Bill that, I'm definitely not trying to say you're a power gamer or cheezy player or anything of that sort. I play with Vampire Counts, so I have no right to call anyone anything. I was just hinting that the Demons list is very strong and has few weaknesses. The one real weakness that Chaos normally has, which is shooting, is negated by the flamers. VC's are similar in the sense that it's just a pain in the ass to beat, but as you can see what happened to me at the last tournament at the Dragon, don't get cocky !

No offense taken brother -
There is just no denial that DoC is one tough army book.
