Re: Sunday 31 MAY TOURNAMENT
Will we be trying to face off good vs. evil or will we go by points (in the 2nd and 3rd round I mean).

Re: Sunday 31 MAY TOURNAMENT
It's simple, Evil MUST lose (of course everyone will then bring good).
I see no choice, it is a tournament and you can not pick your opposing force.
Therefore, good vs good or evil vs evil, may happen. But if possible I will make every attempt to keep it good vs evil.

Re: Sunday 31 MAY TOURNAMENT
The tables will be 6X4, objective based (not just hit and runs), 3 sessions, using the FOW point system (its simple, not a lot of math).
Three 2 hour sessions, with breaks should be 8 hours total.

Could someone please define "Object Based"?
Can someone please explain (or link to) the FOW point system?

Re: Sunday 31 MAY TOURNAMENT
"Objective Based". In FoW there are two objectives per board side (usually). If you captured one of the objectives on the opposite board side you won the battle.
Which is not that great an idea in a 600 point per side battle. Most armies will be 3 formations. Not ideal for grabbing objectives while defending the one(s) the opponent needs to capture.

Re: Sunday 31 MAY TOURNAMENT
"Object based" I'm going to assume means "Objective" based. I'm not sure if that means were going to use the WoTR missions or simply have several objectives and have to claim one to win.
Here's the FOW point system:
FOW bases it's victory points based on the number of platoons destroyed. But it's not just based on the number of platoons YOU destroy, but also on how many of YOUR platoons that your opponent destroys.
The point scale is out of 6 points. The scale looks like such:
Winner's pts / Loser's pts
6 : 1 (Massacare, in 40k or Fantasy terms)
5 : 2 (Major Victory, in 40k or Fantasy terms)
4 : 3 (Minor Victory, in 40k or Fantasy terms)
Here's how the scoring works:
Lets say Erik and I play a game.
I beat Erik, either by objective or by wiping him out, whichever.
Now we look to see how many formations Erik killed. This is to see what kind of victory it is, and how many points we each get.
If Erik killed/destroyed none of my formations, then it's a Massacare (or 6:1)
If Erik killed/destroyed one of my formations, then it's a Major Victory (or 5:2)
If Erik killed/destroyed two or more of my formations, then it's a Minor Victory (or 4:3)
So basically, it's important to both kill your opponent's formations, but also protect yours.
What happens in a draw? If a draw occurs, you both use the losers column for points, gaining 1 point for every formation you destroyed (minimum 1, maximum of 3).
Does that help?

Re: Sunday 31 MAY TOURNAMENT
Yes, Scurri is right, typo sorry, OBJECTIVE. The "objectives" will come from the WotR book:
"Seize the Prize", "Field of Swords", and "Altar of Evil" (last one is my own invention).
In "Altar of Evil" evil must race to the alter and activate the magic (hold 3 turns), good must race to stop evil by destroying the alter (hold for 3 turns).
A hero (good) may use a might point to use "Iron will" to reduce by one turn thus, only need 2 turns of possesion, evil may do the same to activate. While ANY formation hold possesion of the alter it is considered defensible terrain (stone building). Magic can not go in, but can come out. However on a roll of 1 or 6 the spell will be cast against you own forces good or evil (such is the perversion of evil). Holding is acculmitive, so if good holds for a turn but is repluse, evil must hold for additional turn (maxium one additional turn). All defensible terrain rules apply. All of this is subject to change (Altar of Evil only).
What I am attempting to do is avoid a player from holding back and just shooting into his opponent, win and collect his prize.

Re: Sunday 31 MAY TOURNAMENT
Are we going by the FOW point system?
It sucks if your strategy is to have multiple smaller formations as opposed to 3 mega formations. Elves would have huge advantage since there's less of them and they're stronger per formation.

Re: Sunday 31 MAY TOURNAMENT
Why do we need the FoW scoring system when the first 2 scenarios have their own scoring system? And then maybe give some kinda of scoring system for yoiur last scenario like, 2 VP for each turn you hold the objective up to a max of 10 VP for holding it and destroying/Activating it?

Re: Sunday 31 MAY TOURNAMENT
I agree, we can use the WotR system.
I have an idea, I will place the same tokens I plan on using for the treasure objective, for each turn of occupation the player takes one token (2 VP for each token), whoever has the most tokens at the end has successfully destroyed/activated the alter. Fair?
I am just trying to avoid uber over powered armies winning simply by smashing their opponents using no tactics.

Re: Sunday 31 MAY TOURNAMENT
I don't think that'll be too much of an issue, but who knows!
What time are we planning on arriving / starting?
12 noon to start?
If were shooting for 2 hour rounds I hope we don't start too much later then that. That'll get us outa there by 7:00 to 7:30 pending speed and taking shorter (30 min) breaks.

Re: Sunday 31 MAY TOURNAMENT
To me 12 noon to start would be perfect.
Meaning the dice start to roll at 12:00!
11:30 AM Show - 12:00 PM to start.
When I try this in the past, it did not work out that way. It usally more like 1:00 PM to 2:00PM
So I should say I will be there at 10:00 AM (to setup) and leaving at 7:30 PM regardless of what is going on. 11:30 AM show, 12:00 PM start, one game, lunch break (30 min), second game, break (15), last game, awards. Fair?

Re: Sunday 31 MAY TOURNAMENT
So 11:30 AM arrival?
Alright, I can do that with a 7:30 depature. I'll be there. Hopefully with enough figs!

Re: Sunday 31 MAY TOURNAMENT
There should be a house rule for every 15 or 30 minutes your are late your opponent gets priority. So its 12:01 and player "B" has not arrived, that's one, opponent "B" arrives at 12:20 that's two. So for the first TWO turns player "A" who was on time gets priority, no rolls, FAIR?
Just thinking of ways to inspire players to arrive on time, but yet, not discourage them from coming at all or come across as a hard ass.
If someone took the time and effort to arrive on time, I think it goes without saying the courtesy should be returned.
To honest, I do not want to spend 14 hours or more at Sunshine, not even for WotR.
